This video includes footage from the 2007 York US 30 Reunion held at the York County Fairgrounds in York, Pa. and drag racing action from the Nostalgia Nationals held at Beaver Springs Dragway. The Reunion segment looks at several unique drag race vehicles that were first time visitors to the York show. Included are: Lowell Lister's sidewinder rear-engined Hemi powered dragster, George Weiler's record setting B/Dragster from the 1960's, The Seaton Shaker Corvair Funny Car fresh out of long time barn storage, Nate Cohen's Super Stock Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt, two original 1963 Z-11 Chevrolets, Charlie Garrett's '56 Chevy Gasser, Salty's Shaker Modified Production '55 Tbird, an original Bill Thomas built Chevy Nova looking just like it did back in the Psychedelic 70's and the Strip Teaser A/FX Falcon among others.
The drag racing action takes place at York's Nostalgia Nationals held at Beaver Springs Dragway in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We begin by looking at some of the early time trial action and then view the pre-race activities, which include a parade lap by the first lady of drag racing Linda Vaughn. The racing program includes two rounds of a six car Funny Car Match Race, two rounds of the Gasser class eliminator (twelve cars) and two rounds of the Nostalgia Super Stock eliminator (21 cars). The racing footage has a full narration explaining the dial in's, reaction times and winning elapsed times. I really enjoyed the gasser racing action as it had a great group of cars that took me back to the 1960's.
I also did an interview with the "Voice of Drag Racing" Jon Lundberg and he told me of how he came about using his famous "Attention in the Pits" call for the first time.
