AMOS MOTORSPORTS 2006
DVD #152
This two hour and twenty-three minute video takes a look at the racing season of the Amos Motorsports Racing Team. The team of Jim Amos, FE Bob Fermier and Harry "Pink" Pinkard acquired a 1965 Mercury Comet bracket car during the summer of 2006 and we follow them to numerous drag strips in the southeast part of the country.
The first outing for the car was August of 2006 when driver Bob Fermier made his first pass down the quarter mile in 36 years. It was pretty cool seeing a sixty-five year old man having fun just like he did when he was 18. After several trips to the Orlando Speed World Drag Strip in Orlando, Florida the team heads up to Breakaway Drag Strip near Panama City, Florida. The team competed at Breakaway during a special Old Drag Racers Reunion drag race. There were some pretty cool cars there. The team also does some racing at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida. We also mounted a video camera in the Comet and got some great in-car shots going down the track. From there the team headed up to Roxboro Drag Strip in North Carolina for the first annual Ronnie Sox memorial race. There were also some very impressive cars running at that show.
The video winds down with coverage of a nostalgia drag race at Bradenton, Florida, the Moroso five day race, the Snowbirds at Bradenton and some footage of the Comet at the annual Turkey Rod Run at Daytona International Speedway. Actually this is much like a reality show because we show you all the good things that happen and also many of the mistakes that occur during a season of racing. We made some dumb mistakes along the way but had a great time doing it. Move over John Force here comes the Amos Motorsports reality show.
