                                       DVD #011

This seventy-eight minute original movie production includes rare footage of drag racing at York US 30 Drag Strip.  The video opens up with a look at racing during the 1960's and features footage of a 1965 NHRA Division 1 Record Meet.  The footage includes Gassers, Altereds, Dragsters and Super Stockers.  Some of those shown are:  The Moose Gasser, Jack Merkel, Ralph Landolfi, Frank Bash, Charlie Hill, Red Lang, Tasca Ford, Dave Strickler, The Ramchargers and many more.  In fact more than 68 different cars are shown in this segment.

From there we move to the 1970 Summer Nationals where we look at the Funny Cars, Dragsters, Pro Stock, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Modified and Competition Eliminator.  Sixty-six cars are named in this segment some of which include:  Jim Oddy, Bob Chipper, Gene Snow, Bruce Larson The Rod Shop, Gene Cooper, Dick Landy, Ron Mancini and many more.

From there we move to the 1972 Funny Car Nationals were we profile thirty-two different cars from the all Funny Car field.  Names like Mickey Thompson, Jungle Jim, Sammy Miller, Flash Gordon Mineo, Mike Burkhart, Tom Hoover, Hippie Hemi, Al Segrini, Candies & Hughes and many more.  The next event features the 1972 Super Stock Nationals.  Forty-four cars are profiled from Funny Car, Pro Stock and Super Stock eliminators.  Some more names include:  Bobby Wood, Roger Lindamood, Butch Maas, Tom Sneeden, Gene Snow, The Castranova Bros, Larry Arnold, Tonka Mustang, Smoker Smith, Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney and LA Hooker.  Pro Stockers include:  Bill Jenkins, Richie Zull, Mike Fons, Ronnie Sox and more.  We show the closing rounds of Super Stock eliminator right down to the final.

Next up is the 1973 Super Stock Nationals.  Thirty cars are named and include big names from Funny Car and Pro Stock eliminators.  Don Schumacher, Larry Fullerton, Fred Goeske, Kosty Ivanoff, Swenson & Lani, Ronnie Lyles, Al Joniac and the Grump.

Our final segment is original sound film from 1979 at York.  Forty-four cars are shown and include:  Joe Amato, Nick Boninfante and the Hell On Wheels wheel stander tank.

We have also included several interviews to add to the viewing and educational experience.  York owner/operator Bill Holz talks about the importance of the Super Stock Nationals to the success of the track.  We also talked to Frank LeSueur about the East Coast Funny Car Circuit that he directed back in the 1970's.  The circuit cars ran numerous shows at York.  Frank also tells a Jungle Jim story that I found very interesting.   In addition we talk to Joe Jacono about his funny car career.  Joe is a remarkable guy and I think you will enjoy this interview very much.

The footage used in this production is all new and does not appear in any of our other productions.  There are over 284 named cars in this video and many of them are shown multiple times during eliminations.

As always we have taken the time to dub real car sounds on to the movie footage in order to give you the most realistic sights and sounds available of the golden era of drag racing.  We have also included relative narration in the video so you can follow all the action that takes place.  Get your copy today.  Our DVD includes 29 Chapter markers so you can quickly navigate to your favorite part of the video.
